I'm an advocate for Early Intervention services for children with autism. It was invaluable for helping our son recover from the negative aspects of autism. It may be an oxymoron to some, but there are many brilliant and unique characteristics of autism we want to preserve!

My definition of 'recovery' is to eliminate or reduce behaviors that impede a child's ability to participate comfortably within his environment. Intervention shouldn't be used to alter a child's personality, uniqueness or spirit.

Beware of doctors who insist that spending thousands of dollars on special diets, supplements and medicines are necessary for recovery. This simply isn't true!

Our son is living proof that recovery can occur WITHOUT any biomedical intervention.
We chose ABA/DTT/DIR,OT,PT,APE,SPEECH therapies-all paid by Early Intervention. FLOORTIME play therapy was invaluable for social skills.

Results were rapid. Our son is now 5 and is no longer affected negatively by autism.

We also chose floortime, although we had to wing it on our own. My son is now 10. You can watch his videos on this channel (MomE2Dallas). He wants to be an announcer and has taken over my channel. :-) Anyway, I wanted to say hi and I hope you make more videos as we share a similar philosophy. I will say that once I finally reached the level of true acceptance, I was able to appreciate my son's differences and we now celebrate them. As a result, he is absolutely soaring. He's an amazing kid.
