Palace Roadshow
Palace Entertainment Ident (Australia)
Sat 22 Dec 2007 19:56:14 PST
This ident replaced all of the earlier Palace labelled idents (ie. Vibrant, Explosive, etc). It emerged in the late 1980s, and continued on until around the mid 1990s. The label released home videos in Australia and New Zealand.

Palace Home Video Ident (Australia)

Uncommon ident that featured on some Palace releases in Australia in the early to mid 1980s. This ident was also used for some 'Palace X' home video releases (I am yet to come across any separate ident for Palace X releases).
Palace Australia was not affiliated with a compa...

Apparently a film critic in Argentina bought the reels after it was screened in 1928, then in the 60's passed them on to the National Art Fund, and soon into other hands. Some experts from Berlin came down to check and apparently Lang's cut is all there. It needs to be restored [no kidding] and there are scratches that may not be repaired, but there's a good chance we will get to see it all. Yea!
They'll be another annoucement tomorrow. |

I lucked out on that one, the person left "Roadshow" in the title, not exactly a master criminal. I was just looking up clips from "Metropolis" 1984 after hearing that apparently Fritz Lang's complete version has been found in South America! According to Ain't it cool news website anyway, if true WOW! I never found we'd get that one. No problem!

Right. I assumed it was coming out this year. If you didn't see my note, you may want to watch "The Inheirtance" episode before "Faith Healer" since it was the pilot episode of "Friday the 13: The Series" just in case you aren't familiar with the show. Aside from "Faith..." David did not direct any more shows. And I saw the Criterion DVD of "Videodrome" in stores: it says "director approved" and a sticker with David's signature is on the cover, so now I'm 99% sure. I'm getting it! Its Canday day here, so I'll just say HAPPY TUESDAY! Later!

They're that rare, eh? I thought they were commonplace, but then, I was just four or five at the time. Good luck with finding it, I can definitely say that there is at least one Lorimar-Roadshow branded tape out there...the memory sticks out like dog's balls in my mind (pardon my French)!.

If you catch the new Aussie horror film, "The Fury" or hear of any good buzz let me know. Nothing to do with the Brian de Palma film of the same name incidentally. This one's about a haunted slaughterhouse from what I read.

I think I'd have a better chance at winning the lottery than finding old Lorimar VHS titles these days! They are now quite rare. But I'm still hunting for all the Village Roadshow variations, and that one you mentioned would be another on my list.

G'day mate, I was wondering if you recall seeing (or even having a copy of) a logo for "Lorimar-Roadshow Home Video" (or something along those lines? It was sort of similar to the US Karl-/Lorimar Home Video logo sequence, only it has the Roadshow "V" logo at the end as well. I recall watching a Alf cartoon tape when I was four or five and it had that logo on it.
It came to mind when I watched the Lorimar version of Roadshow's warning scrollers. |

As for Landis with his clout low he doesn't want to be a spoilsport I guess. Even John Carpenter and Wes Craven have gotten involved in remakes of their films. No matter, I haven't yet seen a CGI morphing as good as Rick Baker's awesome werewolf transformation. I did hear Landis's episode of "Masters of Horror" , "Deer Woman" was good and he's supposed to be attached to a bio-pic of E.C. Comics and Mad magazine publisher William M. Gaines. I'd like to see that one. Try to catch Landis' s "Into the Night" its a fun comedy-thriller loaded with director cameos including Cronenberg and the recently departed Aussie director Richard Franklin.

Thanks! "Three Extremes" is quite good. Its actually a sequel to "Three" also a horror anthology. The original was actually released second on video so they called it "Three Extremes 2"! They did the same here with Jackie Chan's "Armour of God" films. Part 2 was released as "Operation Condor" and the original was titled "Operation Condor 2: Armour of the Gods". I would recommend "Three aka Three Extremes 2" and "Three Extremes". As you said you can't expect much original horror films from Hollywood these days and as these films come from Asia it proves the point.
